As a young man, August 1965, I began to study and learn the furniture business under the tutelage of Mr John Kester. Mr Kester taught me such valuable lessons as the importance of presenting quality furniture, the value of working honestly with the public, and give the best service.

In the years of Kester Furniture Inc, I had the privilege of managing the very successful Used Furniture Company. I served Kester Furniture Incorporation as store manager for 11 years

In December 2001, I opened a Christian owned and operated furniture establishment with my wife of 36 years, Dianne McSwain McCluney.

After a very successful first year in business, the oldest of my three sons, Randall and his two sons, Marquell and Timothy joined the team to build another family legacy in Shelby,

With the help of my three sons, Randall, Donagrant, and Gary and thanks to my dad, John Sr., who is here when needed, presently, four generations of the family enjoy the operations of successful interactions in J and D Furniture Inc.
