Peoples Neighborhood Bank, based out of Hallstead, PA, was founded on the principles of building relationships that last with the community and our customers. In a time when bank mergers are everyday occurrences, small town relationships seem nearly extinct, and personal contact has been replaced by automation, PNB is proud of its long, successful history as a community bank.

The First National Bank of Hallstead, the original bank in Hallstead, PA was established in 1905. A few years later in 1910, Hop Bottom National Bank was established just down the road. In 1965 the two bank boards decided to merge the banks and formed Peoples Neighborhood Bank. Between 1971 and 1992 Peoples Neighborhood Bank continued to grow and added offices in Susquehanna, Montrose, Nicholson and an additional office in Hallstead. In 1997, the bank acquired offices in Tunkhannock and Meshoppen, extending their presence in Wyoming County, PA. In 2003, PNB ventured into New York for the first time and established an office in Conklin. In 2005, our growth in New York continued as we opened offices in Deposit and Binghamton. In 2008, we expanded into Lackawanna County, PA, opening an office in Glenburn.

In 2005, Peoples Financial Services Corp., parent company to Peoples Neighborhood Bank, formed Peoples Advisors, LLC as a member-managed limited liability company under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, to be a wholly owned subsidiary of the Corporation, for the purpose of providing investment advisory services to the general public.

We are proud to say PNB has been able to maintain its founding principles through more than 100 years of change and continue to bring the most efficient service possible to its customers without losing the friendliness and special attention they are used to receiving.
