Portrait Photography
Laura has experience doing portraiture for more than 25 years, relating to all types of people and working in various situations very successfully. She has deliberately chosen not to have a studio in her environment, preferring instead to do studio work where you are. While she is very proficient at mobile backdrops and lighting, and does this regularly, it is often much more unique and personal to use your home as the backdrop (as well as the yard, or a park), and she does this wherever possible.

This type of portraiture also has several other benefits. Your child is comfortable (and generally easier to photograph) in his own home, you can't "forget" to bring an outfit or prop, and the atmosphere is much more relaxed for parent and child alike. You can take a break because the older child needs to play for a few minutes, or because the baby needs to nurse.

In the Spring and Fall, Laura’s Eyes offers Portrait Days at Down’s Park in Pasadena, where there is a beach, a garden, and several other spectacular backdrops for “slice of life” portraiture. You can pick the time of day that most suits you, and spend an hour collecting a variety of portraits that will be both memorable and fun. This works especially well for children because it is more like play than work.

Every shoot is customized so that you get just what you envisioned. Your shy or frightened child will have all the time he needs to relax, and have fun so you get natural smiles.

Wedding Photography
Laura's Eyes Photography has been satisfying brides for over 15 years now.  Based in Anne Arundel County, MD, but willing to travel to the beaches and surrounding areas, Laura's Eyes makes its primary goal to give you exactly what you want.  There are no "packages", as everyone is unique, and we strive to meet your individual need. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event, and it should be considered an event; not a portrait session. The other main goal for Laura's Eyes is to get the portraits you need yet remain unobtrusive and go with the flow of the day. We will shoot a blend of traditional and photojournalistic photography, ensuring that you are not missing anything that you will need to have later, and also satisfying your need for both artistry and practicality.

Lastly, you need a female photographer. You will be more comfortable having a female in the room with the girls prior to the wedding. You will be able to connect with a female emotionally, as she is comfortable with and will be better able to respond to your emotion. Also, a female will be sure to see and photograph the romance of your day.


Event Photography
Most events can be accomplished with or without a photographer. However, there are definite advantages to having a photographer come to your event.

You will be free to enjoy the event instead of being responsible to capture those pictures that you and everyone else want so badly.

Big events, such as family reunions and birthday or anniversary parties are the only times that the whole family gets together. What better time to get that portrait that you have been trying for years to orchestrate? People don't complain about having their picture taken (ok, they don't complain as much!) when they don't have to go out of their way to do it.

Certain events — political fundraisers, band debuts, business get-togethers — often provide pictures for you to use later in marketing, campaigning, or even as “good will builders” when you give them to an associate.

I can set up a backdrop if you want portraits at your event. I can even do them as fundraisers for you if your organization is looking to raise money. I can also be the “roving photographer” and take all those candids everyone loves.

Special Needs Photography
One of my biggest joys is working with people that have special needs, and making them look their best. I enjoy their company and, as a mother of someone with Down Syndrome, I am absolutely comfortable working with these types of special challenges. I also appreciate the value in the parents’ eyes of a good portrait of their beloved child, and I know the constant pain of getting photos that make you feel sad. Yes, it is more difficult to get a flattering portrait in this case, but it is also more rewarding.

I spent many summers photographing Mayo Special Needs Day Camp for Anne Arundel County. I've done events for Opportunity Builders, and portraits for my daughter's school, in addition to doing private photo sessions.
