Ivar joined Paine Edmonds in 2002. He is a senior member of the ICBC & Injury Law, Disability & Insurance Law, and Wills & Estate Law practice groups.

 

Ivar was counsel in Vershinin v. Hayward, a British Columbia Supreme Court decision awarding compensation to the plaintiff after ICBC had denied that a motor vehicle accident had caused a tear to the glenoid labrum in his shoulder which developed over time after the crash.

 

Ivar’s representative clients include Canada Safeway Limited. Ivar has appeared as lead counsel in hearings and trials in the Provincial Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal of British Columbia, as well as the Federal Court of Canada (Trial Division and Court of Appeal). He has also appeared before administrative bodies such as the Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunal and the Pension Appeals Board (now known as the “Social Security Tribunal of Canada).

 

Ivar has been recognized as one of the Top 5 Lawyers in Vancouver by Metro News readers.

Personal Notes

Ivar was born and raised in Vancouver. He and his wife and daughter reside in Richmond. As a law student, Ivar was actively involved in the Law Students' Legal Advice Program, a non-profit society run by law students at the University of British Columbia. He volunteered as a clinician and clinic head, and eventually became a member of the Executive as the Director of Operations. Ivar enjoys playing soccer, travelling, supporting Canuck Place Children's Hospice and Kids Up Front Vancouver, as well as spending time with friends and family.
