ASTYM Therapy
Sara Hennessy, OTR/L and Missy Ladeburg-Jeanes, MPT, Cert MDT are both trained and certified to conduct ASTYM therapy. ASTYM treatment is an evidence-based rehab program specifically designed to treat degenerative tendinopathies and scar tissue that can interfere with recovery after surgery or injury. It stimulates the body to regenerate and heal, decreases pain, enhances mobility and keeps patients active. ASTYM therapy has proven effective in the treatment of lateral epicondylosis (tennis elbow), medial epicondylosis (golfer’s elbow), carpel tunnel syndrome and post-op joint replacements, to name a few. Physician referral is required. For more information on ASTYM treatment, please call one of the two Performance Rehab sites or visit www.astym.com.

The McKenzie Method

The McKenzie Method is a philosophy of active patient involvement and education for back, neck and extremity issues. Its centerpiece is a data and research proven methodology backed by therapists worldwide. Also known as Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), what sets The McKenzie Method apart from other physical therapy techniques is the innovative assessment process-a safe, reliable means to accurately reach a diagnosis and only then create the appropriate treatment plan. Based on the treatment concepts of founder Robin McKenzie, a physiotherapist from New Zealand, the McKenzie Method has attracted interest worldwide. Missy Ladeburg-Jeanes, MPT, Cert MDT is one of a handful of healthcare providers in the state of Iowa, that is active and certified on the provider list of the McKenzie Institute, USA.

Lymphedema

Lymphedema is defined as swelling in your arms or legs that stems from a blockage in the lymphatic system that stops the lymph fluid in your limbs from draining correctly. Lymphedema can also occur from venous insufficiencies. Though no cure for the condition exists, with the proper care, lymphedema’s symptoms can be controlled. Missy Ladeburg-Jeanes, MPT, Cert MDT is trained and MLD certified to specialize in Lymphedema care and treatment. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle type of massage therapy used to drain excess fluid from the body and improve the overall functioning of the lymphatic system. Compression bandaging, exercise and patient education for self-care, are also tools used in Lymphedema treatment.
