"I wish I could keep my cabinets looking new forever” was the wish of one of Dave Haglund’s custom cabinet clients. Always one to put customer service first, Dave decided to see if he could create a process to maintain wood surfaces. In 1986 he did just that and decided to call his service a “Kitchen Tune-Up” In a short time, business was booming and people were talking about this tune-up process and recommending it to their friends and family. Dave and his wife Cindy knew that everyone had woodwork that was worn in their home and after seeing the dramatic results of this service, they decided to create a business model to help other people offer this service in their communities. They did some research and discovered the best way to bring this duplicatable business to other cities would be through franchising. Dave and Cindy had owned their own cabinet business for 13 years and the idea of helping other people get into their own business was as exciting as getting this new process out to more homes. In 1988, Kitchen Tune-Up sold their first franchise. Over the years and with the help of many talented franchise owners, the Kitchen Tune-Up system expanded to include redooring, refacing, new cabinets and more. Dave and Cindy love to hear franchise owners tell stories of their businesses and to read comments of the 1000’s of satisfied customers every year. Over the years Kitchen Tune-Up has received many awards and accolades for being an industry leader. But there is one recognition that Dave and Cindy have received that stands out from all the rest. On the 20th anniversary of the KTU franchise system, the entire franchise system presented them with a two week, all expenses paid cruise to Norwary. Dave and Cindy felt honored to be part of such a generous and giving community. |
