Bar and Grill
The restaurant and bar at the Anchor are open year round and are both very busy during the high season of June, July, August and the first couple weeks of September. The restaurant opens each day at 7:00am for breakfast and stays open til 11:00pm in the summer months for dinner.
The chefs serve great Canadian fare and the house speciality is the local seafood (whitefish, rainbow trout, and arctic char) that is brought in fresh from the cold waters of Lake Huron. Each day at lunch we offer 3 lunch specials, soup & sandwich at $5.99, a hot special at $6.50 and a creative low fat low-cal special that follows the weight watcher's regime.
Our street side patio is open from June til September and is a great spot to watch the boats go by in the channel.
The bar side of the Anchor has been serving libations since the end of prohibition over 50 years ago. A hot 'Dee Jay' spins tunes every weekend and there are lots of special events throughout the year. Including a Blues weekend, karokee nites, satellite tv, a pool table, cd-juke box and a host of interesting regulars.
The biggest volume of visitors each year is the first weekend in August, when the local Lions club hosts Haweater Weekend. Line-ups to get in are the norm and the place rocks for 5 straight nites. It's crowded, hot, sweaty and the service is bad but everyone lines up to get in. Check the pictures and you will see what we mean.
You never know quite what to expect at the Anchor when the sun goes down!
