David Crowell is the Manager of Mortgage Network’s Southeastern region. As a loan officer with the company, David opened the Hilton Head Island Mortgage Network branch office in 1996. Under his leadership, this office has increased to #1 in the Hilton Head market. He led the expansion to Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina. In 2005, David was the single highest producer of mortgage loans (by an individual) in the United States.
David was born in Beverly, Massachusetts and graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy. He attended the University of Hull in England, traveling across Europe playing basketball for the All England University team. After graduating with a B.A. in Philosophy, David came back to the U.S. and completed his Master of Philosophy degree at Boston University in 1969. He then returned to England to study for a doctorate in Philosophy at the University of London. For several years, he taught philosophy for the BBC Open University and other colleges. David returned to the states in the mid 1970s, and with contacts made at Phillips Exeter Academy, he worked as an investment broker with the venture capitalist firm Foster, Dykema and Cabot. In 1978, David became a financial consultant for Maine Financial Services and then, in 1988, for Phoenix Asset Management.
The father of three sons, David and his wife Kate moved to Hilton Head Island in 1996 where he opened the local Mortgage Network branch and has grown it into Mortgage Network’s Southeastern division.
