Title Insurance:
Your policy of protection against loss should a "hidden hazard" (fraud and forgery, defective deeds, mental incompetence, confusion due to identical names and clerical errors) in the records result in a claim against your ownership of property, even after a thorough title search has been completed.

Closing Services:
A meeting of all parties involved in a property transaction during which the transaction is consummated. Also called a "settlement" of the property.

1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges:
A transaction that allows you to roll-over all of the proceeds received from the sale of an investment property into the purchase of one or more other like-kind investment properties. At closing, proceeds are transferred to a third party, typically referred to as a Qualified Intermediary (such as the Title Resource Network), who holds them until they are used to acquire the new property.

A 1031 exchange is often referred to as a Starker exchange.

Escrow Services:
A method of closing a real estate transaction in which all required documents and funds are placed with a third party (such as the Title Resource Network) for processing and disbursement.
